UFF Theater was opened on August 14, 1982. It was a cultural gift to the public in Niterói and neighboring municipalities, since the former theater at Icarahy Hotel Casino (current Dean’s Office of the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro – UFF) was closed for 35 years. Refurbished and equipped with the best machines and as comfortable as it could be back then, the brand new UFF Theater would become a space of reference in Niterói, restoring the tradition of the old Icarahy Casino Theater.
In addition to theatrical productions, the theater hosts concerts of various musical genres, ballet performances, debates, seminars and other cultural projects coordinated by the UFF Arts Center or in partnership with other institutions.
