Its land was donated by the heirs of Araribóia, and it was the main church for a long time, during which it housed the image of São João Batista, patron saint of the city, currently on display in the Cathedral. The Te Deum, celebrating the creation of Vila Real da Praia Grande (current Niterói), was held in this church. Inside you will find the wooden-carved image of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, dated 1672. It also includes the Sacra Arte Museum.
